our philosophy

We believe with the proven facts that when a learners are introduced to the concepts of independence and responsibility while they learn and complete tasks, they gain confidence and a pride sufficient to be a complete person.

The concepts of independence and responsibility in completing tasks are continually reinforced. The learners also team with learning buddies in order to collaborate and reflect on their work and their learning approach is informed through the Spalding Method.

Our undivided focuses and emphasizes to four key principles — collaboration, responsibility, reflection and independence - are certain to prepare our learners beyond school, sustaining their tertiary studies and onward into their careers. Whatever their abilities and aspirations are certain to unlock.

our history

This year at Tech High School we are celebrating 30 Years of the Tech High School.

Since the Tech High School was introduced in 1992 by Head of School Miss Thembekwayo Baile, it has sat at the heart of Tech High School’s approach to teaching and learning. The four pillars of the Plan – Independence, Responsibility, Collaboration and Reflection – are the solid foundation upon which Tech High School learners become independent learners.

Each week, the three key elements of Assignment, Lesson and Study provide a unique framework for learners to organise their own learning—seeking direct feedback when required and following up on areas that require consolidation.

Common Subjects

STEAM education in Senior School greatly increases careers options as learners come to the fruition of their Senior School education. It teaches the skills critical for a successful professional life – project management, problem solving and collaboration – and complements the DoE Plan perfectly.

Commerce Stream

Business activities such as goods exchange and providing services to consumers make up the foundation of commerce stream courses. Learners are exposed to dummy trading platforms.
